The following is the teaching of the Catholic Church throughout the centuries and expressed again at the Vatican Council II and highlights the foundation on which our school and system is built.
The Importance of Schools (Document on Christian Education from Vatican II Council #5) |
We are educating our students to live in a world that we do not know or can even envision. So what kind of an education do we provide for them? In their world of the future they will learn skills and acquire knowledge that has not yet been invented. As has been done for centuries in Catholic Education, we provide a foundation that will endure the test of time. Through virtuous living according to the gospel values, love of God, respect for our neighbor with honesty and fairness in all our interactions with others, yes, and even endurance in times of difficulty, we prepare our children to live in whatever the world of tomorrow brings. Because they are a part of it, inspiring them, above all, to make it a better world. Our students are instilled with the vision for a better world in this life and someday to share in the joys of eternity with their God. St. Mary's welcomes you and your child in the way Jesus welcomed the children at the end of His day. St. Mary's is a Catholic school, steeped in all of the tradition and faith of the Catholic Church, yet it is open and accepting to people of all faiths. To Jesus, there are only children of God. To the faculty and staff of St. Mary's Jesus is present and visible in every child. Come and see if St. Mary's is the environment in which you would like to have your child educated. "Then He embraced them and blessed them." (Mark 10:14)
